Bidding

There are four types of bidding possible through the auction:

In-person bidding:
Registration and issuance of bidding paddles take place at the entrance to the auction hall. When a bidder wishes to place a bid, they signal the auctioneer by raising their bidding paddle and clearly displaying its number.

Commission bids:
The desired maximum bid can be placed via info@wunderkammerauktion.dk up to 48 hours before the auction begins. A commission bidder will bid on behalf of the bidder within the limits of the desired maximum bid and will always place the lowest possible overbid.

Telephone bids:
It is possible to be called by a WK employee who will bid on the bidder's behalf during the auction. This can be arranged through info@wunderkammerauktion.dk up to 48 hours before the auction takes place.

Online bids:
It is possible to follow the auction online via www.wunderkammerauktion.dk and place bids. Register here.

The auctioneer determines the increment size and the pace at which the auction is conducted. However, the following bidding increments are generally used as a starting point:

Bid - Bid Increment

0 - 999 - 50 DKK

1 000 - 1 999  - 100 DKK

2 000 - 9 999 - 200 DKK

10 000 - 19 999 - 500 DKK

20 000 - 29 999 - 1 000 DKK

30 000 - 99 999 - 2 000 DKK

100 000 - 199 999 - 5 000 DKK

200 000 - 399 999 - 10 000 DKK

400 000+ - 20 000 DKK

All purchased items must be paid for within one week after the conclusion of the auction.

Transport

We can assist buyers with secure transportation both domestically and internationally. Many collectibles require especially delicate handling and thorough packaging. We ensure that items are protected to the best extent possible during transportation.

  • For smaller items, we carefully package them and send them as parcels. Typically, prices range from 200-500 DKK.
  • For larger items, we can refer you to a freight forwarder who can handle the transportation. Here, the price typically ranges from 500-1000 DKK and up.
  • For exceptionally valuable items (50,000 DKK and above) or very fragile items, we are happy to make special arrangements for personal delivery.

However, shipments are at the buyer's risk, and we recommend adding insurance.

Terms and Conditions for the Purchase of Items at Wunderkammer Collector and Special Auctions

The following terms and conditions apply when purchasing items through Wunderkammer Collector and Theme Auctions (WK). These terms and conditions may change over time, and the current version can always be found at www.wunderkammerauktion.dk. These terms and conditions are effective from September 1, 2023.

1 Description

1.1 WK will describe the items' originality and condition to the best of their ability through a thorough examination and consultation with experts. All descriptions will be based on the prevailing expert opinion at the time of the sale.

1.2 WK will describe the general condition of the item, including repairs and damage. However, minor wear and tear will not be described in detail but will be documented through images.

1.3 All items sold through WK can be viewed during an inspection.

1.4 The assessment and description may be revised before the auction. Changes will be announced on www.wunderkammerauktion.dk.

2 Auction and Bidding

2.1 Prior to the auction, all buyers must register and provide identification. All identity information will be treated and stored confidentially.

2.2 All auctions are conducted in the presence of an auctioneer.

2.3 WK reserves the right to handle errors, technical difficulties, and external abuse or disruptive influences during the auction.

2.4 The auctioneer determines the size of the increments and the pace at which the auction proceeds. Bids typically increase by 5% to 10% in relation to the previous bid.

2.5 The hammer price refers to both the auctioneer striking the hammer to mark the end of bidding and the price (bid amount) at which the offered item is sold.

2.6 The buyer is the bidder who obtains the hammer price. Upon receiving the hammer price, a binding purchase/sale agreement is formed based on these purchase terms.

2.7 If bidding is done on behalf of others, the bidder is liable as a co-signer for the transaction.

2.8 Items are purchased "as seen," and regardless of the type of bid, the buyer has no right of withdrawal, not even according to consumer contract laws. This is because WK conducts physical auctions that are not subject to a right of withdrawal.

2.9 There are four types of bidding available through the auction:

In-person bidding: Registration and distribution of bidding paddles take place at the entrance to the auction hall. When a bidder wishes to bid, they signal the auctioneer by raising their bidding paddle and clearly displaying its number.

Commission bids: The desired maximum bid can be placed via info@wunderkammerauktion.dk up to 24 hours before the auction begins. A commission bidder will bid on behalf of the bidder within the limits of the desired maximum bid and will always place the lowest possible overbid.

Phone bids: It is possible to be called by a WK employee who will bid on behalf of the bidder during the auction. This can be arranged through info@wunderkammerauktion.dk up to 24 hours before the auction takes place.

Online bids: It is possible to follow the auction online via www.wunderkammerauktion.dk and place bids.

3 Fee and Basic Charge

3.1 A buyer's fee of 23% of the hammer price, including VAT on the fee, will be charged.

3.2 As a rule, all items at WK are traded according to second-hand VAT rules. For Danish and foreign companies, there may be special VAT rules. In all cases, the buyer is responsible for correctly paying VAT and other fees in accordance with Danish and foreign regulations.

3.3 Some items may be subject to an artist's resale right, which will be indicated in the catalog.

4 Settlement

4.1 All purchased items must be paid for within 8 days after the conclusion of the auction.

4.2 Payment is made by bank transfer to WK – Sparekassen Danmark.

4.3 Cash payment up to DKK 19,999 is possible at the auction itself.

4.4 If the item is not paid within the specified period, WK is entitled to cancel the purchase.

4.5 If the purchase is canceled due to non-payment, WK is entitled to sell the item at a new auction and demand the costs and any difference between the hammer price (and fee) achieved on the two auctions from the defaulting buyer.

5 Defects and Flaws

5.1 If the item is found to be a forgery or the description contains significant errors after the auction, the buyer may cancel the transaction.

6 Collection and Shipping

6.1 Purchased items can be shipped at the buyer's expense and responsibility by agreement with WK.

6.2 In the case of personal collection of purchased items, this can be done immediately after the auction or no later than 8 days after the conclusion of the auction.

6.3 In accordance with applicable anti-money laundering legislation, the buyer may be required to provide identity information and present photo identification to WK before taking possession of the purchased item.

6.4 Some items may be subject to an export ban imposed by the Cultural Value Committee or subject to the Washington Convention.

7 Complaints, Dispute Resolution, and Choice of Law

7.1 In case of complaints, it is recommended to write to WK at info@wunderkammerauktion.dk.

7.2 If a solution cannot be reached, consumers can send a complaint to Nævnenes Hus, Toldboden 2, 8800 Viborg, email: nh@naevneneshus.dk. Consumers residing in an EU country other than Denmark can file a complaint with the EU Commission's online complaint portal through the website: http://ec.europa.eu/odr.

7.3 Disputes must be brought to the Copenhagen City Court in Denmark. In consumer relationships, mandatory jurisdiction rules apply.
